2024 Carolina Farm Credit - UMO Scholarship Application

     
    Carolina Farm Credit is a stockholder-owned cooperative that offers financing for full and part-time farming, agricultural-related business, home construction and home purchases in 54 North Carolina counties, through 32 local branch offices.  The Association also offers a wide array of additional financial services including credit life insurance, appraisals, leasing programs and financial planning.

    For more than 100 years Farm Credit has been supporting rural communities and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services. 

    Carolina Farm Credit serves over 10,000 members with more than $1.4 billion total loans outstanding.  The Association’s territory covers the western half of North Carolina, with branch offices located in Albemarle, Asheboro, Asheville, Boone, Browns Summit, Burnsville, Carthage, Concord, Conover, Ellerbe, Graham, Hendersonville, Jefferson, Lenoir, Lexington, Lincolnton, Monroe, Murphy, Pilot Mountain, Roxboro, Rural Hall, Salisbury, Shelby, Siler City, Sparta, Spindale, Statesville, Taylorsville, Waynesville, Wilkesboro, Yadkinville, and Yanceyville. 

    Carolina Farm Credit hereby establishes the Carolina Farm Credit Scholarship at the University of Mount Olive, to provide annual scholarships for undergraduate students in agriculture and agribusiness.  This scholarship will be funded through contributions made by Carolina Farm Credit. Four $2,000.00 scholarships will be awarded annually. They will be renewable up to four years, as long as the recipient meets all the following qualifications and remains in good standing with the college.

     Application qualifications are:
    1. Reside in one of the following North Carolina counties: Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Anson, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Caswell, Catawba, Chatham, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Davidson, Davie, Durham, Forsyth, Gaston, Graham, Guilford, Haywood, Henderson, Iredell, Jackson, Lee, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Polk, Randolph, Richmond, Rockingham, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly, Stokes, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Union, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin, and Yancey.
    2. Be a graduating High School Senior enrolling in a four-year agriculture program at the University of Mount Olive, or a current student enrolled in the program.
    3. Possess a GPA of 2.5 or better
    Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership characteristics, and future plans for enhancing the quality of life for North Carolina rural residents and their communities. 
    To be considered for this scholarship, three individual letters of recommendation and a high school or college transcript must also be submitted.

    Additionally, since these are Foundation scholarships, your submission indicates your understanding that the donor of the scholarship and Foundation staff may review any of the above mentioned information. It is the responsibility of the scholarship recipient to complete a FAFSA for any awarded scholarship to be paid.
